Abbas Khan College Hosts Inspiring English Literary Fest, Showcasing Talent and Confidence of Young Women
Bengaluru: The English Department of Abbas Khan Degree College for Women, in collaboration with the SAMATVA Cell under IQAC, organized its annual English Literary Fest titled “Aspire to Inspire English”, turning the campus into a vibrant space of creativity, expression, and learning. Held at the college conference hall, the event brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests to celebrate language, literature, and talent.
A Platform Beyond Classrooms
The fest stood out as a student-driven initiative, where participants not only performed but also took charge of organizing the entire event—from hosting and quizzes to stage management and performances. The programme featured engaging segments such as Rays of English, a quiz competition, and a skit on interviews presented by BA students.
Dr. Asma Fathima, Head of the English Department and Convener of the event, emphasized the importance of such platforms in holistic education.
“This fest is not just about language, but about confidence, creativity, and self-expression. Our students have proved that with determination, they can excel in any field they choose,” she said.
She also appreciated the management for encouraging activities beyond academics, adding that the event revealed “remarkable talent and leadership among students.”
Students Shine With Creativity and Confidence
One of the highlights of the fest was students portraying renowned authors and literary characters with striking authenticity. Despite limited rehearsal time, the performances were widely appreciated for their depth and presentation.
Dr. Vijaya R. M., Principal of Janata PU College and chief guest, lauded the students’ efforts and commitment.
“The performances were so convincing that it felt as if the authors themselves had come alive on stage. Such a level of presentation is rarely witnessed, and it reflects the immense potential these students possess,” she remarked.
She further noted that the event demonstrated the students’ ability to organize, collaborate, and execute a programme with professionalism.

Encouraging Hidden Talent and Leadership
The fest also underscored the role of educational institutions in nurturing hidden talent. Students displayed strong coordination, creativity, and enthusiasm, reflecting both academic learning and extracurricular excellence.
Mrs. Musadiqa Salma, Vice President of JIH Women’s Wing, Bengaluru, and coordinator for BIFT-VTIFW, praised the college’s efforts in empowering young women.
“This event clearly shows that our students are not only academically capable but also rich in creativity and expression. Abbas Khan College continues to play a vital role in shaping confident, skilled young women who will contribute meaningfully to society,” she said.
She also commended the principal and faculty for their dedication in creating such opportunities.
Celebrating Collaboration and Achievement
The programme was coordinated by students Zara Afshan and Ayesha Siddiqua, with Gulfisha Aireen and Syeda Rabiya Umair managing screen coordination. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shaistha Rubiana.
Faculty members highlighted that the fest reflected strong collaboration between teachers and students, and marked a significant milestone in student participation. Many noted that such initiatives help uncover talents that often remain hidden in conventional academic settings.
A Tradition of Excellence
Known for its commitment to literary and cultural activities, Abbas Khan Degree College for Women continues to uphold its tradition of empowering students through education and expression. The success of “Aspire to Inspire English” once again reinforced the institution’s role in fostering confident, articulate, and capable individuals.
The event ended on a high note, with participants and guests expressing optimism about the future, and a shared belief that such platforms are essential in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
