Bengaluru to Host CSIR’s RISE Conclave 2024 to Fuel ‘Viksit Bharat’ Innovation
BENGALURU, June 2024 – The sixth edition of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) RISE Conclave is set to take place in Bengaluru on June 13 and 14, acting as a bridge between scientific research, industry, and entrepreneurship. The event, themed around innovation-driven growth for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047,’ will be inaugurated by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.
Organized under the Ministry of Science and Technology, this year’s conclave is hosted by CSIR along with its laboratories: NAL, the Fourth Paradigm Institute, and CFTRI. Following successful editions in Jammu, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Lucknow, and Chennai, the Bengaluru event will focus on three pillars: Aerospace Technologies, AI for Everyone, and the Agri-Food Nexus.
Dr. Abhay A. Pashilkar, Director of CSIR-NAL, emphasized a strong aerospace focus, particularly in electronics, while also supporting diverse startups. Unlike general AI trends, the conclave will prioritize “scientific AI” for research applications. Dr. Giridhar Parvatham of CSIR-CFTRI noted that the goal is to build long-term relationships for commercialisation, not just product display.

The event has already received over 1,000 registrations, with more than 800 delegates expected from institutions like ISRO, IISc, and various industries. A total of 33 startup exhibitors from the food and agri-sectors will participate alongside a dedicated Science and Technology Pavilion featuring CSIR, ISRO, ICAR, and ICMR.
Key discussions will involve leaders from Bosch, Airbus, Tata Advanced Systems, and Licious across eight panel sessions. A major focus will be technology transfer, highlighted by a new microbe-based extract alternative to antibiotics in dairy, which has already attracted private interest.
Dr. G.K. Patra of CSIR-4PI stressed that beyond seed funding, startups require critical handholding in facilities and mentorship. Organisers added that scaling for global markets demands attention to export standards and regulatory compliance. The conclave aims to create a lasting ecosystem where research outcomes are effectively converted into societal solutions and enterprises.
