All India Milli Council Launches Voter Awareness Drive, Urges Citizens to Verify Electoral Records
“Every eligible citizen must ensure their name is on the voter list,” says Sulaiman Khan
New Delhi: As efforts intensify across the country to promote electoral participation and strengthen democratic engagement, the All India Milli Council (Karnataka) has launched a public awareness campaign encouraging citizens to verify their voter registration details and ensure that their names are included in the electoral rolls.
The campaign focuses on guiding voters through the process of checking their names and family records in earlier voter lists, particularly the 2002 electoral rolls, and understanding the documentation required for registration and verification.
Speaking on the initiative, Sulaiman Khan, Assistant General Secretary of the All India Milli Council, said voter registration is not merely an administrative exercise but a civic responsibility that directly impacts the future of the nation.
“Democracy becomes stronger when every eligible citizen participates. A vote is not just a right; it is a responsibility. We urge people not to wait until the last moment and instead verify their voter details today,” he said.

Under the campaign, citizens are being advised to visit the Election Commission’s official portal, voters.eci.gov.in, and register or log in using their mobile numbers. They are encouraged to check whether their own names, their parents’ names, or the names of relatives appeared in the voter list of 2002.
If any such record is found, voters are advised to note the Part Number and Serial Number and use those details while completing the verification process.
According to Sulaiman Khan, these historical voter records can significantly simplify the verification process.
“Many people are unaware that older voter records can serve as valuable references. By locating family records in earlier electoral rolls, citizens can make the verification process smoother and more efficient,” he explained.
The awareness drive also highlights document requirements based on age categories. Individuals born on or after December 3, 2004 are required to provide identity proof, address proof and date-of-birth proof. Those born between July 1, 1987 and December 3, 2004 must submit identity proof, address proof and relevant age-related documents. Citizens born on or before July 1, 1987 are generally required to provide address proof.
The organisation has called upon youth, community leaders, educational institutions and social organisations to actively participate in spreading awareness about voter registration.
“A democracy thrives when every voice is heard. Every eligible citizen matters, and every vote matters. We appeal to families to help one another verify records and ensure that no eligible voter is left behind,” Sulaiman Khan said.
He further stressed that voter awareness should become a community movement rather than an occasional campaign.
“Checking your voter details takes only a few minutes, but participating in the democratic process can shape the future for years. Citizens must check, verify, register and empower themselves through informed participation,” he added.
The All India Milli Council has urged the public to share voter awareness messages across social media platforms and community networks so that more people can complete the verification process in time.
The campaign carries a simple but powerful message: Your Vote. Your Voice. Your Future.
