New Delhi, April 17: In an atmosphere filled with grief, reverence, and heartfelt prayers, prominent scholars, community leaders, and intellectuals gathered at a grand condolence meeting organized by the All India Milli Council to pay rich tributes to the late Maulana Hakim Mohammad Abdullah Mughisi, whose lifelong services to the nation and the Muslim community were hailed as extraordinary and enduring.

A Fatherly Figure and Visionary Leader

Delivering the presidential address, noted Islamic scholar and Acting President of the Council, Maulana Aneesur Rahman Qasmi, described the departed soul as “a dignified and great personality whose loss feels like losing a father.” He said, “Allah blessed him with a long life, and he dedicated every moment to the البناء of the nation and the Ummah. Personalities like Maulana Mughisi are not born often. He was a beacon of light for us, and we deeply benefited from his wisdom and foresight.”

His passing, speakers noted, has left a profound emotional and organizational void within the Council and the wider community.

Leadership Vacuum and Call for Reflection

A message from Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, was read during the session. Expressing deep sorrow, he remarked, “It is a great tragedy that the Council has lost two of its foundational leaders within a short span. There is an urgent need to thoughtfully consider future leadership and preserve his legacy through documented works that become part of history.”

Echoing similar concerns, eminent scholar Maulana Khalilur Rahman Sajjad Nomani emphasized the critical role played by Maulana Mughisi in strengthening the Council. “Following the successive demise of Dr. Mohammad Manzoor Alam and Maulana Abdullah Mughisi, the Council now needs a dynamic and visionary leadership. The Ummah needs this institution today more than ever before,” he said.

Maulana Fazlur Raheem Mujaddidi, General Secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, presented a detailed account of Maulana Mughisi’s life, highlighting his association with كبار علماء and his authorization (ijazah) from the renowned thinker Maulana Ali Miyan Nadwi. “His contributions to the Ummah will always be remembered. His demise has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” he said.

Leaders from various organizations recalled his spiritual depth, humility, and اخلاق (moral excellence). Mohammad Ahmed of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind noted, “Three qualities defined him — asceticism, focus, and character. These made him a highly effective and influential personality.”

Tributes Pour In from Across the Country

Prof. Mohammad Afzal Wani, Chairman of the Institute of Objective Studies, remarked, “While his departure is deeply saddening, we take solace in the strong institution he leaves behind. It is now our responsibility to renew our resolve and continue his mission with wisdom.”

Renowned scholar and author Maulana Abdul Hameed Nomani reflected on the spiritual legacy of the departed, stating, “A person is remembered by his deeds. Maulana Mughisi has left behind numerous acts of صدقہ جاریہ that will continue to benefit him and guide future generations.”

Advocate Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhary from Assam highlighted his concern for regional issues, saying, “His concern for the Muslims of Assam was remarkable. We must now adhere firmly to his teachings and guidance.”

Similarly, Mufti Umar Abideen Qasmi from Telangana described him as “our pride, our dignity, and our قائد,” emphasizing the need to document and carry forward his mission.

Personal Remembrances Reflect Deep Affection

Several speakers shared personal experiences that reflected Maulana Mughisi’s compassion and mentorship. Mohammad Alam recalled, “He always encouraged and nurtured the younger generation. After my father’s passing, he reassured me like a पिता. Sadly, we have now lost him too.”

Haji Parvez Mian from Delhi said, “It is an honor that I received his محبت. He was a great guide, and we will continue striving to carry forward his work.”

Mufti Ahmad Nadir Qasmi stressed that the greatest tribute would be to keep the Council strong and active, as it was during the lifetimes of its كبار leaders.

A Legacy of Faith, Simplicity, and Tireless Struggle

In an emotional address, Maulana Abdul Malik Mughisi, his son and successor, highlighted his father’s simple yet impactful life. “For over six decades, he lived a life of tireless service in Ejraada. His trust in Allah and cautious approach were exemplary. His written works, especially ‘Karwan-e-Mughisi,’ remain a guiding light for us.”

His other son, Maulana Abdul Khaliq Mughisi, expressed gratitude to the organizers and requested prayers for his father’s forgiveness.

Sulaiman Khan Moti Nagri, Assistant General Secretary of the All India Milli Council, said that the demise of the Council’s President has left the entire community deeply shaken and grief-stricken.

He noted that Maulana Abdullah Mughisi had been associated with the Council since its very inception and had served it in various capacities over the years. He further stated that he remained a close associate and trusted aide of Qazi Mujahid-ul-Islam Qasmi, and eventually carried the responsibility of leading the Council as its President for a long period with dedication and wisdom.

Emphasizing the gravity of the moment, he added, “Today, we are in dire need of sincere prayers that Allah grants the Council strong and capable leadership once again.”

A Collective Prayer and Resolve

The session began with introductory remarks by Sheikh Nizamuddin, who shared how working closely with Maulana Mughisi had been a source of inspiration. “Whenever we approached him with problems, we returned with renewed determination,” he said.

The condolence meeting concluded with an emotional dua led by Maulana Abdul Aleem Qasmi Bhatkali, seeking Allah’s mercy for the departed soul and strength for the الأمة to continue his noble mission.

As the gathering dispersed, one sentiment echoed unanimously — that Maulana Abdullah Mughisi’s خدمات will be remembered for generations, and his life will continue to inspire a الأمة striving for unity, justice, and faith.
