This year’s awards celebrated those who have tirelessly worked to uplift survivors of abuse and violence, with a special focus on empowering women and girls.
Madhavi Suribhatla: A Trailblazer in Art and Empowerment
Among the esteemed awardees was Madhavi Suribhatla, a record-breaking artist and advocate for women’s empowerment. A multifaceted individual with an artistic mind, Madhavi’s journey is one of resilience and creativity.
Academically accomplished, she holds an MA in Personnel Management, an MBA in Marketing, and an LLB. She has also served as an HR Manager in a multinational corporation. However, her true passion lies in the world of art and craft. Since childhood, she has been deeply fascinated by creative expression, which led her to establish the “Madhu Crafts n Creations” group in 2014, where she shares tutorials and showcases her artistic endeavors.
Breaking Barriers with Art
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Madhavi launched online crochet classes aimed at providing stress relief for homemakers worldwide. Her initiative gained immense popularity, enrolling over 2,000 students on this creative journey.
Her dedication and artistic excellence have earned her an astonishing eight Guinness World Records for her artwork. In 2020, she rebranded her group as “Mahila Manovikas”, with the empowering motto: “Every homemaker can be a record breaker.” She believes that achieving goals beyond daily household responsibilities fosters confidence and personal empowerment.
Honored for Her Contribution
Madhavi’s relentless efforts in promoting women’s empowerment and creativity were recognized at the Women’s Day program held at Alliance Française de Bangalore, where Team Abhaya honored her contributions to society.
