Oral cancer expert highlights early detection, prediction and technology at Oxford College of Engineering

Bengaluru, September: Dr Nadim ul Hoda, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Cancer at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, addressed a special workshop at Oxford College of Engineering in Bengaluru, focusing on the growing role of artificial intelligence and modern technology in cancer research and healthcare.
The workshop, organised by the college’s Department of Computer Applications and Biotechnology in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research, was held under the theme “From Code to Cure: AI-Driven Disease Prediction.” It aimed to introduce students and participants to emerging developments in the use of technology and AI for early disease detection, prediction and treatment.
Focus on oral cancer and timely diagnosis
Speaking on “A Comprehensive Review of Oral Cancer,” Dr Nadim ul Hoda explained key medical aspects of oral cancer, including its identification and treatment. He also highlighted the importance of timely diagnosis and the potential of technological advances to support medical research and healthcare.
Dr Hoda emphasised that understanding diseases at an early stage can play an important role in improving treatment outcomes. He also drew attention to the expanding role of technology in medical research, particularly in identifying disease patterns and supporting prediction and diagnosis.
The workshop provided students with an opportunity to understand how developments in artificial intelligence can complement medical expertise and contribute to new approaches in healthcare.
Discussion on education, research and technology
During his visit, Dr Nadim ul Hoda also met Dr S.N.V.L. Narasimha Raju, Chairman of Oxford Educational Institutions, at his office. The two discussed various issues related to education, medical research and the use of modern technology.
The interaction also highlighted the importance of bringing together academic institutions, medical professionals and technology experts to encourage research-driven learning and explore practical applications of emerging technologies in healthcare.
