Karnataka Rajyotsava: Milli Council’s Khidmat Boys and Girls Spread Smiles with Fruit Baskets at Hospitals
Bengaluru: Marking Karnataka Rajyotsava with a message of unity, compassion and community service, the All India Milli Council Karnataka’s Khidmat Boys and Khidmat Girls organised a fruit distribution drive at Government HSIS Gosha Hospital and Hosh Hospital on November 1, reaching out to patients, new mothers and children.
The initiative was aimed at celebrating Karnataka’s identity through service to humanity, turning the state’s formation day into an occasion to share care and bring smiles to people undergoing treatment.
Speaking during the drive, Mohammed Fiaz Sharief, General Secretary of Milli Council Karnataka, said the organisation was grateful for the opportunity to serve people on an important day for the state.
“We are Kannadigas, and we take pride in our state. What better way to celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava than by serving people? Along with organising a medical camp for Ulama-e-Karam, our Khidmat Boys decided to distribute 200 to 250 fruit packets at hospitals,” he said.

Girls Lead Distribution in Maternity Wards
At Government HSIS Gosha Hospital, the team distributed 200 nutritious fruit baskets, each costing around Rs. 100. Every basket contained an apple, banana, pomegranate, orange, a biscuit packet, juice and a bottle of water.
As hospital rules restricted men’s entry into certain areas, Khidmat Girls and female central members of the All India Milli Council led the distribution inside the hospital, particularly in the maternity ward. Khidmat Boys supported the initiative by arranging and carrying the fruit baskets.
Members of Khidmat Girls said visiting patients, especially new mothers and children, was an emotional experience. They described the distribution as a small gesture of love and support for families dealing with illness and pain.
“Seeing smiles on the faces of patients, children and mothers gave us immense happiness. We may not be able to do much, but offering fruits is our small way of showing love and standing with them,” a Khidmat Girls volunteer said.
The volunteers also appreciated the cooperation extended by hospital staff and the clean environment maintained at the facility.

Service as a Message of Brotherhood
Fiaz Sharief said the initiative was intended to promote brotherhood and encourage more people, particularly youngsters, to participate in community service.
“At a time when hatred is increasing in society, we want to spread love through service. Helping others brings happiness, builds relationships and strengthens brotherhood. Even a small act of kindness can make a difference in someone’s life,” he said.
Hospital representatives appreciated the initiative, describing it as a positive effort that brought comfort and happiness to patients and their attendants. The volunteers said even a smile from a patient made the Rajyotsava celebration meaningful.
The council described the drive as “A small gift of health, a big gesture of hope”, reaffirming its commitment to social responsibility and service beyond community boundaries.
The initiative also carries an appeal for public support and donations to sustain similar welfare activities.
