Profile at a Glance Karthik Mohan

Abhaya Bravery Awardee

Karthik Mohan, an Abhaya Bravery Awardee, is a compassionate changemaker whose work beautifully blends professionalism with social responsibility. Born and raised in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, he grew up in a disciplined household shaped by the values of hard work and integrity. His father, a businessman, and his mother, a homemaker, instilled in him empathy, responsibility, and respect for collective well-being. Growing up with his younger brother taught him cooperation and the importance of supporting others.

Karthik completed his schooling at Mahatma School and pursued a degree in Administration from Madurai Kamaraj University. Today, he serves as a Senior Payroll & Compliance Coordinator at Withum Smith Brown India, specializing in labour compliance and payroll management. His professional journey exposed him to the real-life struggles of workers and strengthened his leadership and people-management abilities.

His social service began with a simple observation: stray animals roaming hungry on the streets created fear and conflict in neighbourhoods. Instead of viewing them as a problem, Karthik recognized neglect as the root cause. By regularly feeding and caring for them, he transformed aggressive street zones into peaceful spaces. Over time, these once-feared streets became “safe corridors”, especially benefiting women who could now walk without fear. He firmly believes compassion itself can be a powerful tool for public safety.

Building on this philosophy, Karthik works toward three goals—safer public spaces, women’s empowerment, and community harmony. He conducts awareness sessions on labour rights, equal pay, and workplace protection, helping women understand their legal rights and financial independence. He also offers career guidance, mentorship, and practical safety awareness, including understanding animal behavior to confidently navigate public areas.

With over 15 years of HR and compliance expertise, Karthik envisions a society where women feel secure both economically and physically. His mission is clear: to replace fear with understanding, and vulnerability with confidence. His journey proves that meaningful change often begins with one act of kindness—and grows into a movement of protection and dignity for all.
