Zameer Ahmad Khan Releases ₹12.5 Cr Pending Funds for Minority Students
Bengaluru: In a significant move to support higher education for minority communities, Karnataka Housing, Minorities Welfare, and Wakf Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan handed over an agreement letter to the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) under the KMDC Arivu Education Loan Scheme for the academic year 2025–26.
The scheme will provide financial assistance ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh per student, with a total allocation of ₹20 crore, benefiting 5,890 candidates from minority communities seeking admission to professional courses. The fees for students selected through CET and NEET will be disbursed directly through KEA.
Clearing Pending Dues for Previous Beneficiaries
During the event, Minister Khan also released pending funds worth ₹12.50 crore for 1,018 students under the Arivu Education Loan Scheme for 2024–25. The delay in fund transfer was attributed to technical issues, which were resolved after Khan intervened.
“Upon learning about the delay, I immediately discussed the matter with KMDC Chairman Altaf Khan and officials to expedite the release of funds. Ensuring timely financial support for students is our priority,” said Zameer Ahmad Khan.
Key Attendees and Broader Impact
The event was attended by KMDC Chairman B.K. Altaf Khan, Managing Director Afzal Pasha, Council Member Ivan D’Souza, former Waqf Board Chairman Anwar Basha, and community leaders Agha Sultan and Khalid Ahmad.
The KMDC Arivu Education Loan Scheme is a crucial initiative aimed at reducing financial barriers for minority students pursuing professional courses. By streamlining fee payments through KEA, the government ensures transparency and efficiency in fund disbursement.
This move reinforces the state’s commitment to equitable access to education, particularly for economically disadvantaged students from minority communities. With the release of pending dues and the launch of the new academic year’s scheme, Karnataka continues to strengthen its education support framework.
