Spike in Heart Attack Cases in Hassan District
Government Forms Expert Medical Committee for Investigation
Bengaluru – In response to the growing number of heart attack-related deaths in Hassan district, the Karnataka State Government has constituted a special committee of medical experts under the leadership of Dr. C.N. Ravindranath, Director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, to study the situation and submit a report.
The state has taken serious note of the increasing incidents where young and middle-aged individuals have died due to heart attacks over the past month in Hassan. The government aims to understand the causes behind these sudden cardiac deaths and explore preventive and remedial measures.
Senior officials from the Medical Education Department held discussions today with Dr. Ravindranath, instructing him to conduct a detailed study on heart attack deaths specifically in Hassan and to submit a report within 10 days.
Following the government’s directive, Dr. Ravindranath has begun collecting data on these cases from Hassan district and has convened meetings with a panel of experts to initiate a comprehensive investigation.
Since the news of rising heart attack deaths broke, an increasing number of worried citizens from Hassan have been rushing to Jayadeva Hospital for check-ups. Dr. Ravindranath updated that the hospital has witnessed a 5% to 10% rise in patients seeking cardiac screenings and treatment in recent days.
Health Department Holds Review Meeting
In light of the situation in Hassan, Health Department’s Principal Secretary Harsha Gupta also held a video conference with a panel of experts today to discuss the increasing heart attack-related deaths, particularly among the youth and middle-aged population.
