Manipal Hospitals Teams Up with Google Cloud to Revolutionize AI-Driven Healthcare in India

AI Integration Cuts Operational Time, Boosts Efficiency in Patient Care

Bengaluru: Manipal Hospitals, one of India’s largest private healthcare providers, has partnered with Google Cloud to introduce cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based solutions across its medical facilities. The collaboration, announced at Cloud Next ’25 in Las Vegas, aims to transform healthcare delivery in India by streamlining operations, reducing inefficiencies, and improving patient outcomes.

Dramatic Time Savings Through AI-Driven Solutions Digital Health Leap: Google Cloud Backs Manipal Hospitals' AI-Driven Transformation

With the support of Deloitte, Manipal Hospitals has already begun implementing Google Cloud’s AI and analytics tools, resulting in significant time savings. The hospital’s ePharmacy order processing time has dropped from 15 minutes to less than five, while nurse handover durations have been slashed from 90 minutes to approximately 20—a 78% reduction.

“These improvements translate into millions of minutes saved in caregiver productivity each month,” said Karthik Rajagopal, Group Chief Operating Officer at Manipal Hospitals. “Google Cloud has been instrumental in helping us unlock high levels of scalability, performance, and security. With the infrastructure burden lifted, our teams can now focus on solving critical business challenges.”

ePharmacy Platform: Smarter, Faster Medication Access

The hospital’s AI-powered ePharmacy platform—built entirely on Google Cloud—leverages Gemini on Vertex AI to streamline drug information processing and prescription fulfillment. Automation reduces transcription errors and enhances prescription accuracy, especially in high-volume environments.

Using Google Cloud’s Healthcare API and Apigee API Management, Manipal Hospitals ensures real-time data exchange between departments and with patients. Visual analytics from Looker enable continuous monitoring of user behavior and order flows, further optimizing the patient experience.

More than 100,000 patients currently rely on the platform, which processes over 60,000 data entries daily. Doctors benefit from data-driven insights into prescription trends, fostering better coordination with pharmacy teams.

Generative AI Transforms Nurse Handovers

In parallel, the AI-powered nurse handoff solution is improving communication and continuity of care by offering real-time access to patient data and automated workflow support. This technology reduces errors and enhances clinical efficiency during shift transitions.

“By combining secure, scalable AI with healthcare expertise, our goal is to help providers like Manipal Hospitals improve systemic inefficiencies and enhance care quality,” said Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President and Country Managing Director at Google Cloud India.

A New Standard for Digital Healthcare

This collaboration underscores a broader shift toward AI-integrated healthcare in India. As Manipal Hospitals continues to scale its digital platforms, the partnership serves as a blueprint for how cloud technologies can deliver meaningful impact across healthcare ecosystems—enhancing both operational efficiency and patient care.
