Man Impersonates Police Inspector Using Fake ID, Case Registered in Bengaluru

Forgery Uncovered in Bold Impersonation Scheme

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has registered a case against Anand S., a man accused of impersonating a police inspector using a forged identity card. The fake ID, which falsely designated him as an inspector, lacked the necessary signatures from senior officers, raising immediate red flags.

Authorities initiated an investigation after receiving tips about Anand’s suspicious behavior. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the ID card he carried was fraudulent. “The suspect was misusing a fake police ID, and after thorough verification, we have registered a case,” stated a police official.

Stolen Identity Details Revealed
Further investigation uncovered that Anand had manipulated the ID number of an actual police constable, Doddabassappa K., from the S.R. Nagar police station. Anand had replaced the original photograph with his own and altered the designation to ‘Inspector,’ creating a convincing but entirely fake credential.

Police Launch Manhunt for Suspect
With the forgery confirmed, the CCB has officially registered a case and is actively searching for Anand. “We are pursuing the accused and will take strict action against such fraudulent activities,” a police spokesperson emphasized.

This incident underscores the growing threat of identity forgery, particularly within law enforcement, where fake credentials can be exploited for criminal purposes. The case serves as a stark reminder of the need for stringent verification processes to prevent such impersonations in the future.
