Milli Council Launches Karnataka-Wide Membership Drive to Strengthen Grassroots Social Service

All India Milli Council Launches Karnataka-Wide Membership Drive to Strengthen Grassroots Social Service

The All India Milli Council’s Karnataka unit has launched a statewide associate membership drive to strengthen its grassroots presence, expand community participation and mobilise people for social service, education and the welfare of marginalised sections.

Announcing the initiative at a press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday, October 21, the council’s state leadership called on community members, professionals, educators, social workers and young people to join hands with the organisation and contribute to its work across Karnataka.

The campaign aims to broaden the council’s reach beyond its existing network by encouraging more people to participate in community welfare initiatives. The leadership said a wider membership base would help the organisation identify local needs, strengthen coordination and take up social issues more effectively.

Collective Action for Community Welfare

Mufti Ahmed Simal Rashadi, President, Milli Council Karnataka, said the membership drive was an effort to bring more people into the fold of organised social service. He emphasised that community development required collective participation and sustained engagement rather than the efforts of a few individuals.

“The purpose of this campaign is to bring people together for meaningful social work. Every individual has the ability to contribute to society in some way. By expanding our membership, we want to encourage more people to take responsibility for the welfare and progress of the community,” he said.

Building a Stronger Grassroots Network

Mohammed Fiaz Sharief, General Secretary, Milli Council Karnataka, said the campaign would focus on building a wider network of people who could participate in the council’s activities at the local level.

“Social change begins when people come together with a shared purpose. Through this statewide membership drive, we want to connect with people from different backgrounds and encourage them to become active participants in social service. Our objective is to build a committed network that can respond to community needs and work towards long-term progress,” he said.

He added that grassroots participation was essential for understanding the challenges faced by communities and developing practical responses. Wider involvement, he said, would help the council strengthen its outreach and coordinate initiatives across different parts of Karnataka.

Membership Must Translate into Meaningful Service

Obaidullah Sharief, Vice President, Milli Council Karnataka, said the campaign was an opportunity to strengthen unity and encourage people to contribute their time, skills and resources to public welfare.

“An organisation becomes stronger when people actively participate in its work. Membership should not be limited to joining an organisation; it should also mean taking an interest in the problems faced by society and working together to find solutions,” he said.

Collective Responsibility for Lasting Change

Syed Ashraf, Patron, Milli Council Karnataka, highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in addressing social challenges. He said the membership campaign should inspire people to move beyond individual efforts and work together for the larger good.

He stressed that organised social service could have a wider and more lasting impact when supported by committed volunteers and people willing to take up responsibilities in their respective localities.

Education, Awareness and Youth Participation

Dr. Roshan Abbas, Vice President, Milli Council Karnataka, said education, social awareness and community welfare must remain central to efforts aimed at improving people’s lives. He called for greater participation from professionals, educators and young people, whose knowledge and experience could help strengthen the council’s activities.

“People bring different skills and perspectives to social work. When these strengths are brought together, organisations can reach more people and respond to their needs more effectively. We want the membership drive to encourage such participation and create opportunities for people to contribute meaningfully,” he said.

A Call to Serve with Sincerity and Commitment

Maulana Farooq Azam Habban Raheemi, Vice President, Milli Council Karnataka, said the campaign should be viewed as a call to service and collective responsibility. He emphasised the importance of sincerity, cooperation and a commitment to helping people in need.

He urged community members to support initiatives that promote social welfare and work towards addressing the concerns of vulnerable sections through collective action.

Strengthening the Council’s Reach Across Karnataka

Sulaiman Khan, Assistant National General Secretary, All India Milli Council, said the Karnataka campaign reflected the importance of strengthening the organisation’s presence at the grassroots level. He stressed that an effective social service network depended on the active involvement of people who understood local issues and were willing to work towards practical solutions.

He said the participation of more people would help strengthen coordination between local communities and the organisation, allowing social initiatives to reach a wider section of society.

A Statewide Call for Participation

The state leadership said the membership drive would seek to engage people across Karnataka and encourage them to contribute according to their abilities and interests. The initiative is intended to strengthen the council’s organisational network while creating a broader base for community-oriented activities.

The speakers called on interested individuals to come forward and become part of the campaign, underlining that lasting progress requires unity, participation and sustained effort.

The council’s message was that social service should be a shared responsibility, with membership serving as a starting point for active involvement in community welfare and grassroots development.
