‘Unstoppable’ Teachers, Dedicated BLOs Honoured for SIR Service; Khidmat Boys Praised for Helping Voters
Teachers and BLOs Honoured for Tireless SIR Duties
Bengaluru: Teachers who doubled as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were felicitated on World Teachers’ Day for their tireless service, with speakers praising their efforts in balancing teaching responsibilities with demanding election duties.
The programme also recognised the contribution of Milli Council’s Khidmat Boys, whose volunteers assisted BLOs in voter-related work, including tracing names in the 2002 electoral rolls, mapping relatives with existing electoral records and locating addresses for issuing SIR notices.

‘Teachers Played Dual Roles and Were Unstoppable’
Sulaiman Khan, Assistant National General Secretary of the All India Milli Council, said society remained indebted to teachers for their relentless service during the SIR process.
“We are all indebted to the respected teachers for their relentless efforts in serving people during the SIR process,” he said.
Fiaz Sharief, General Secretary, Milli Council Karnataka, said teachers had taken on the additional responsibility of serving as BLOs while continuing their regular duties.
“The teachers played dual roles of being a teacher and also being a BLO. They were unstoppable. I appreciate the efforts of Khidmat Boys for their support to the BLOs,” he said.
Senior Congress leader Obaidullah Sharief also acknowledged the difficulties faced by teachers during the electoral exercise.
“Oh teachers, we have no words to thank you for what you did. You did your best towards discharging your duties during the SIR,” he said.
Milli Council’s Womens Leader Salma Sharief said the support extended by Khidmat Boys made the demanding SIR process easier for teachers and BLOs.
“Balancing teaching duties with SIR responsibilities was challenging, but the timely support of Khidmat Boys helped us serve voters more effectively. Their selfless efforts deserve our sincere appreciation,” she said.

Khidmat Boys Extend Support Beyond Regular Hours
Syed Mazhar Qadri, Assistant General Secretary, Milli Council Karnataka, highlighted the long hours put in by the volunteers to help BLOs cope with the workload.
“We have seen Khidmat Boys working till 1 am, helping BLOs meet the pressure of their duties,” he said.

Teachers Recall Challenges, Credit Volunteers
Teachers Gayathri, Umme Salma, Fathima Khanum and Salma Parveen recalled the challenges they faced while carrying out SIR-related responsibilities, including door-to-door visits and searching for voters’ names in the 2002 electoral rolls.
The teachers said the support of Khidmat Boys had made the demanding process easier, particularly in tracing voters, mapping relatives and locating addresses for SIR notices.

“We teachers faced plenty of difficulties and challenges during the SIR process throughout the duration of the duties assigned to us by the Election Commission,” they said.
The teachers also thanked Milli Council office-bearers for recognising their work, while stressing that they considered serving people part of their duty.
They dedicated the recognition they received to the young Khidmat Boys, saying their selfless assistance had made the electoral exercise more manageable and strengthened efforts to help voters protect their electoral rights.
