Beat the Heat: KSTDC Launches Special Summer Tour to Bannerghatta & Muthyala Maduvu

One-day AC bus package includes safari, butterfly park, boating, and sunset views — with direct park entry and all meals at ₹1,680

State tourism corporation leverages 55 years of experience to offer hassle-free summer getaway from Bengaluru

Bengaluru, April, 2026 – As summer temperatures rise, so does the urge to escape the city’s sprawl — even if just for a day. The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC), which has been curating state-sponsored tours for over five decades, is rolling out a special one-day summer excursion from Bengaluru to two of the region’s most beloved nature spots: Bannerghatta Biological Park and the scenic waterfall hamlet of Muthyala Maduvu.

Designed for families, solo travelers, and small groups looking for a seamless, no-fuss outing, the tour will operate daily except Tuesdays, using an air-conditioned bus. It departs from Yeshwantpur at 7:15 AM, with additional pick-ups at Kempegowda Bus Stand (7:30 AM), Shantinagar Bus Stand (7:45 AM), and Jayanagar Bus Stand (8:00 AM).

A packed but relaxed itinerary

The tour blends wildlife, adventure, and nature’s calm. At Bannerghatta, visitors will explore the zoo, go on a safari, and walk through the Butterfly Park — a glass-enclosed tropical garden that houses dozens of native species. Post-lunch, the group moves to Muthyala Maduvu, roughly 25 kilometers away, known for its pearl-like white waterfall and rocky terrain. Activities there include boating and watching the sunset over the valley.

The all-inclusive price is ₹1,680 per person, covering entry fees to Bannerghatta Biological Park, safari charges, Butterfly Park entry, boating at Muthyala Maduvu, as well as breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks.

Direct entry — no queues

One of the standout conveniences for KSTDC customers is priority access. “Tourists booking through KSTDC will benefit from direct entry at all gates of Bannerghatta Park without any delay,” a KSTDC official said. That means skipping long ticket lines — a significant advantage during peak summer visitation.

The corporation is leveraging its own fleet of buses and its network of Mayura Group hotels, though the tour itself is a day trip without overnight stays.

How to book

Advance reservations are open at the Yeshwantpur booking counter, through authorized travel agents, and via the official KSTDC website (www.kstdc.co.in). No spot bookings are guaranteed, and seats on the AC bus are expected to fill quickly, the corporation said.

Context: 55 years of organized tourism

KSTDC has been operating structured tours to major destinations within and outside Karnataka for 55 years, also managing hospitality services through the Mayura Group of Hotels. The summer special is an addition to its existing year-round packages.

For many Bengaluru residents, Bannerghatta National Park — located just 22 km from the city center — is a familiar weekend destination. But the inclusion of Muthyala Maduvu (“Pearl Lake”), with its less-crowded weekday schedule and boating facilities, adds a relatively quieter second half to the trip.

Travel analysts note that packaged day tours are seeing renewed interest post-pandemic, especially among senior citizens and newcomers to the city who prefer not to drive. KSTDC’s government-backed service also offers a layer of reliability often missing from unorganized private operators.

Plan ahead

With summer vacations underway and schools closed, the tour is expected to see high demand. Tourists are advised to book early, carry water bottles and hats, and wear comfortable footwear for walking through the butterfly park and rocky areas near the waterfall.
