Kidwai HOD Dr. Nadimul Hoda Flags Youth Tobacco Addiction as Major Health Threat

Early Diagnosis Can Save Lives: Experts Raise Alarm on Rising Oral Cancer Among Youth

Bengaluru | August 3: A significant increase in oral cancer cases among young people has alarmed medical experts, who say that early detection and treatment could save countless lives.

Speaking at a high-level medical conference held at Hotel Radisson Blu in Bengaluru, Dr. Nadimul Hoda, Head of Oral Oncology at Kidwai Cancer Hospital, emphasized the urgent need for awareness and timely intervention. The event, co-hosted by the International Association, Sai Care Cancer Hospital, and State Hospital, brought together over 100 medical professionals to discuss the latest advancements in cancer treatment.

“If cancer is treated in its early stages, lives can be saved,” said Dr. Hoda. “Unfortunately, many patients arrive at hospitals only when the disease has progressed significantly, making treatment far more difficult.”

Dr. Hoda drew particular attention to the alarming rise in oral cancer cases among young adults, attributing the trend to the widespread use of tobacco, gutka, and other harmful substances. He urged youth to adopt healthier lifestyles and avoid addictive substances to safeguard their futures.

The event featured a focused discussion on technological advancements in oncology and strategies for early detection. Dr. Hoda also highlighted the successful treatments being provided at Sai Care Hospital and called for widespread cancer screenings to aid in early diagnosis.

Other prominent speakers included Dr. Manish, National Commissioner of the Dental Council of India; Dr. Mahesh Kumar, State Secretary of the Indian Dental Association (IDA); and Dr. Diwakar Kalaburagi from the Food and Safety Department. All underscored the need for public awareness, prevention strategies, and lifestyle changes to combat the cancer burden.

The conference concluded with a strong appeal to the public to steer clear of tobacco and seek medical guidance at the earliest signs of trouble.
