Milli Council Mobilizes 1,000+ Mosques for Eid Cleanliness Drive, Urges National Animal Status for Cow to Ensure Communal Harmony

New Delhi — In a major initiative aimed at addressing contemporary socio-religious challenges and counteracting misinformation, the All India Milli Council’s Department of Shariah Protection and Social Reform has unveiled a comprehensive strategic roadmap. The initiative, finalized during a high-level online consultative meeting chaired by National Secretary Mufti Omar Abedeen Qasmi Madani, introduces a multifaceted framework alongside grassroots structural reforms. 

The ‘Five T’ Formula for Shariah Protection

To effectively streamline its nationwide objectives, the Council has adopted a core “Five T” strategic formula:

• Tafheem (Understanding): Dispelling deep-seated misconceptions surrounding Shariah law.

• Tahaffuz (Protection): Defending constitutional guarantees and personal laws in collaboration with legal experts.

• Tadreeb (Training): Providing structured Islamic and legal training to scholars, lawyers, and intellectuals.

• Tableegh (Propagation): Extensively disseminating Islamic teachings regarding the family system.

• Tashheer (Publicity): Leveraging social media and modern communication channels for mass outreach.

Empowering Women and Clarifying Inheritance Rights

As part of its ground-level campaign, the Council co-hosted a specialized one-day “Tahaffuz-e-Shariat Workshop” titled “Islamic System of Inheritance: Realities and Misconceptions” at the Al-Falah English Arabic School in Phulwari Sharif, Patna, drawing significant participation from local women.

Addressing the seminar, Mufti Muhammad Nafe Aarfi, General Secretary of the Bihar Council, clarified systemic misunderstandings regarding gender roles in Islamic estate distribution.

“Out of the designated legal heirs (Zawil Furood), men inherit under 6 specific scenarios, whereas women inherit in 71 different contexts. In various instances, a woman’s share is equal to or exceeds that of a man, and at times, she inherits exclusively while male counterparts are excluded. Where a male receives a double share, it is strictly tied to his financial responsibilities—based on the Shariah maxim ‘Al-Kharaj bil-Dhaman’ (entitlement tied to liability)—and not due to gender discrimination.”

National Executive President Maulana Anisur Rahman Qasmi urged women to step into leadership roles, drawing parallels to female companions of Prophet Muhammad (Sahabyat), stating, “Women constitute half of our society and must be at the forefront to counter hostile propaganda.” Dr. Muhammad Aalam Qasmi added that Islam was pioneering in establishing dignified, independent inheritance rights for women.

Youth Enrichment and Digital Outreach

Recognizing the influence of digital platforms, the Council successfully organized a 15-day hybrid Islamic Summer Camp targeting youth aged 10–20. Utilizing Google Meet, Zoom, and offline centers, the curriculum integrated essential jurisprudence, Islamic ethics, and historic stories through interactive quizzes and games.

Additionally, the Council released multi-lingual flyers and short educational videos across social media. These digital resources, tackling topics ranging from marital traditions to religious steadfastness based on the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim, achieved over 160,000 video views and 20,000 post impressions within a month.

National Cleanliness Drive and Cow Export Ban Proposal

The Milli Council has mobilized a massive public awareness drive for the recently celebrated Eid al-Adha festival. Over 1,000 mosques nationwide were engaged to deliver special sermons emphasizing civic duty, environmental hygiene, and orderly waste management during the ritual sacrifice.

In a notable socio-political statement during the briefings, Maulana Mohammed Shafique Qasmi proposed a structural solution to communal friction, urging the administration to “immediately declare the cow as India’s national animal and impose a complete ban on beef exports to decisively end recurring discord and ensure enduring peace between communities.”
