Bengaluru Teenager Clinches Gold, Earns Spot on National Stage
BENGALURU – Keerthi M.S., a fifteen-year-old student from Bengaluru, has soared to victory, securing a gold medal at the recent CBSE National Taekwondo Championship in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. This significant win propels the 10th-grade prodigy from Vidya Sanskaar International Public School to the next level, as she becomes the sole representative from Karnataka under the CBSE board to compete at the upcoming School Games Federation of India (SGFI) tournament.
A Journey Forged in Discipline and Dedication
Keerthi’s path to national acclaim began seven years ago under the expert tutelage of Master Jothimani Markandan and Assistant Coach Harsha R. Her consistent performance at state and zonal levels laid the foundation for this latest achievement. Prior to her national gold, Keerthi had already built an impressive record, including double gold medals at the CBSE South Zone championships in 2022 and 2023, a silver at the 2025 South Zone event, a gold at the 40th Karnataka State Level Taekwondo Championship, and two golds in the Khelo India Women’s League.
Institutional Pride and Statewide Support
The victory has been met with immense pride from her school, which sees Keerthi as an embodiment of its core values. Shyam Sundar, Secretary of the Vidya Sanskaar Group of Institutions, remarked, “This is a proud moment not just for our institution but for the entire state of Karnataka. Keerthi embodies perseverance and discipline, qualities we encourage in all our students.”

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Sathish M. Bejjihalli, CEO of the institution, expressed strong confidence in her future. “Keerthi’s journey is a shining example of what talent, hard work, and support can achieve. We are confident she will make Karnataka proud at the SGFI tournament.”
Principal Sumana Shenoy highlighted the inspirational impact of Keerthi’s success on the student community. “The school community stands firmly behind Keerthi. Her success inspires her peers to dream big and aim high.”
Eyes Set on the Next Challenge
With the gold medal secured, Keerthi’s focus has shifted to the SGFI Tournament scheduled for November in Jammu & Kashmir. Her journey from a dedicated eight-year-old to a national champion serves as a powerful motivator for aspiring athletes across the state, proving that sustained effort and unwavering focus can lead to extraordinary accomplishments on the national stage.
