Special Coverage

Bengaluru: In a country where the dreams of millions hinge on competitive exams like NEET, JEE, and CET, one man has spent over two decades not just preparing students for these hurdles — but transforming institutions and academic systems themselves. That man is Shaik Shafiq, a seasoned academic leader, master strategist in competitive exam coaching, and now, the newly appointed Regional Director of Shaheen Group of Institutions, tasked with leading its ambitious expansion across South India.

With a blend of grit, vision, and results-driven leadership, Shaik Shafiq’s journey is more than a professional ascent — it’s a story of empowerment through education, and a blueprint for building successful academic ecosystems from the ground up.

The Making of an Education Architect

Armed with an M.Sc and a B.Ed, Shaik Shafiq began his career as a Mathematics lecturer in 2004. But it quickly became evident that his impact would extend far beyond the four walls of a classroom.

Whether at KLE PU College, Indian Academy, or TIME, his classrooms were buzzing labs of curiosity and excellence. His ability to simplify complex concepts and inspire even the most reluctant learners laid the foundation for what would later become large-scale institutional success.

“Every student has potential — it’s our responsibility to build systems that bring it out. I’ve always seen education as nation-building work,” says Shafiq.

Over the years, his teaching excellence evolved into a powerful administrative force. In Shaheen Residential PU College, Bidar, he not only taught — he transformed. Taking charge as Principal in 2008, he scaled the institution from 200 to over 3,000 students, while significantly improving CET outcomes.

📚 “Dr. Abdul Qadeer didn’t just build an institution — he built a legacy of empowerment through education. And Shaik Shafiq has been entrusted to take this towards Southern Sates of India”

From Bidar to Bharat — Dr. Abdul Qadeer’s mission is simple: education for excellence, upliftment for all.”

  • “Dr. Abdul Qadeer’s dream is not just to produce toppers, but torchbearers — students who lead with knowledge, humility, and service.”

  • “He didn’t just build classrooms, he built confidence in a generation that now dares to dream bigger.”

Building Institutions, Not Just Results

Shafiq’s hallmark lies in his ability to architect institutions from scratch — complete with academic systems, motivated faculty, centralized branding, and measurable performance indicators.

As Dean of Falcon Group of Institutions, he spearheaded operations across 11 branches, leading a team of 120+ faculty and managing over 3,000 students. Under his leadership, the student count at Falcon soared from 50 to 2,000 in just four years.

His model focused on more than academic rigour — he built healthy academic cultures, instituted faculty development programs, and implemented student performance-tracking systems that included personalized remedial coaching.

“Results are a by-product of a great process. If you build a disciplined ecosystem where students, teachers, and parents are aligned — success is inevitable,” Shafiq asserts.

His strategic roles have taken him across India and abroad — from Shaheen’s Bangalore campuses to Knowledge Planet in Dubai, demonstrating his versatility and cross-cultural academic acumen.

A New Chapter with Shaheen Group

Now, in 2025, Shaik Shafiq has come full circle, returning to Shaheen Group of Institutions — this time, with a broader mandate. As Regional Director, he is currently overseeing 10 branches in South Karnataka, while preparing for a pan-South India expansion.

Shaheen’s decision to entrust him with this pivotal role reflects the organization’s faith in his leadership, vision, and executional prowess.

“We’re not just opening campuses — we’re building centers of excellence. Our goal is to reach underserved regions, nurture local talent, and make top-tier competitive exam coaching accessible to all,” he explains.

With Shaheen’s vast legacy and Shafiq’s proven track record, the synergy promises to redefine academic success for thousands of students in South India.

Vision for the Future: Collaboration & Community

Beyond his formal roles, Shafiq is now opening doors to academic collaborations, strategic partnerships, and institutional mentoring. He offers consultancy for schools and PU colleges looking to integrate NEET/JEE/CET programs, and support for startups or franchises wanting to enter the competitive coaching market.

He envisions a network of empowered institutions where results are consistent, teachers are trained, and systems are scalable.

“India’s educational challenge isn’t just about access — it’s about quality. I want to help institutions bridge that gap with the right tools, training, and leadership,” he says.

The Human Side: A Mentor First

Despite his administrative titles, those who’ve worked with him describe Shafiq first and foremost as a mentor — someone who remembers his students’ names, walks into classrooms with the same energy as his early teaching days, and is known to spend hours helping a struggling student or a newly recruited teacher.

His humility, combined with an unwavering commitment to educational excellence, makes him not just a leader — but a role model.

“My joy comes from watching a student from a small town crack NEET, or a new college touch 100% pass rate. That’s when I know we’re doing something right,” he says with a smile.

Conclusion: Lighting the Path for a New Generation

As India navigates the future of education amidst changing technologies, rising competition, and growing student aspirations, it needs leaders who can balance vision with ground realities.

Shaik Shafiq — academician, strategist, builder, mentor — stands at the forefront of that change.

And as he takes on his new role with Shaheen, one thing is clear: thousands of students across South India are about to be touched by a legacy of learning, leadership, and transformation.
