DK Shivakumar Singing RSS Anthem; “CongRSSS?”: Shivasundar Accuses Karnataka Congress of Bowing to RSS Ideology

Karnataka Congress or “CongRSSS”? Shivasundar Questions Party’s Tilt Towards Sangh

Rahul Gandhi’s 30th Warning Against Pro-BJP Elements: Is Anyone Listening?

Bengaluru: Prominent activist and writer Shivasundar has sharply criticised the Karnataka Congress government, accusing it of behaving more like a disciple of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) than a party that claims to stand for secular and progressive values.

D.K. Shivakumar Singing RSS Anthem

Shivasundar pointed to a recent incident in the Karnataka Assembly, where KPCC President and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar sang “Sadaa Vatsale”, the RSS anthem. According to him, this act was an attempt to “prove his Hindu credentials before the BJP,” raising serious questions about the Congress leadership’s ideological clarity.

Selective Justice in Karnataka

The activist also attacked the functioning of the state’s Home Department under the Congress government. He noted that activists fighting against the Dharmasthala rape-murder scandal were arrested within two days on charges of “abusing BJP General Secretary B.L. Santosh,” while BJP MLAs and office bearers who made derogatory remarks against Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah continue to roam free.

“This shows the Congress government considers abusing Rahul–Siddu a lesser crime than targeting BJP leaders,” Shivasundar argued, accusing the administration of bending before the saffron ecosystem.

Rahul Gandhi’s Repeated Warnings

Shivasundar also highlighted the repeated warnings of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has said “for the 30th time or more” that he will weed out pro-BJP elements within the Congress. Yet, according to Shivasundar, the Karnataka Congress government continues to protect and enable those very elements.

The Larger Question

Raising a scathing ideological question, Shivasundar asked whether Karnataka is truly witnessing a Congress government, or what he termed a “CongRSSS government”.

He concluded by questioning the faith of Karnataka’s progressive voices who still believe that fascism can be defeated through Congress, despite the party’s repeated compromises with the Sangh Parivar’s ideology.

“Is this Karnataka, or just an absurd nataka (play)?” Shivasundar asked, leaving his critique hanging as an indictment of the Congress’s contradictions.

🔹 Key Quotes (Shivasundar’s Critique)

  • “D.K. Shivakumar sings the RSS anthem in Assembly — is this the Congress or CongRSSS?”

  • “Abusing Rahul–Siddu is a lesser crime, but abusing B.L. Santosh invites swift arrest under Congress rule.”

  • “Rahul Gandhi keeps warning about pro-BJP elements inside Congress, yet Karnataka Congress protects them.”

  • “The progressives still believe fascism can be defeated through Congress — what an absurd nataka (play)!”

  • “This is not a Congress government, but a CongRSSS government in Karnataka.”

🔹 Q&A Format

Q: Why did Shivasundar compare Congress with RSS?
A: Because KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar openly sang the RSS anthem “Sadaa Vatsale” in the Assembly, seemingly to prove his Hindu credentials before the BJP.

Q: What is his criticism of the Karnataka Home Department?
A: He says the Congress government acted within two days to arrest activists accused of “abusing” BJP’s B.L. Santosh, but has taken no action against BJP leaders who abused Rahul Gandhi and CM Siddaramaiah.

Q: What does Shivasundar say about Rahul Gandhi’s warnings?
A: Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly — “for the 30th time or more” — warned that he will drive out pro-BJP elements from Congress. Yet, the Karnataka Congress continues to shield them.

Q: What is his final verdict on the Karnataka Congress government?
A: Shivasundar calls it a “CongRSSS government”, not a Congress government, and questions whether Karnataka is living in a democracy or a political farce.
