Sports for a Cause: BSLA to Honor Football Veterans, Support HIV-Positive Children

Bengaluru — Championing the transformative power of sports, the Bangalore Sports Lovers Association (BSLA) is set to host a high-profile veteran football tribute on Sunday, July 5, at the VeloCT Ground in Halanayakahally. In alignment with the organization’s core mission, the entire registration fee collected from the tournament will be donated to support the welfare and medical needs of HIV-positive children, blending athletic passion with profound social responsibility.

Since its inception in 2016, BSLA has pioneered a unique model that leverages athletic events to fund critical societal needs, including education and healthcare for underprivileged youth. The upcoming football initiative marks another milestone in their decade-long journey of driving grassroots impact through community sports.

“Our mission has never been limited to just organizing tournaments,” said Payel Sengupta, Founder & CEO of BSLA. “We view sports as a powerful catalyst for humanity. By creating platforms for sports lovers to showcase their passion, we simultaneously generate vital resources to uplift children who lack basic opportunities.”

Global Acclaim and National Laurels

BSLA’s innovative approach of linking sports registration fees directly to social welfare has garnered widespread international attention. The organization’s impactful model has recently been studied and appreciated by prestigious universities and institutions across the United States and the United Kingdom.

Adding a major feather to its cap, the association has been honored with the prestigious National Prestige Award 2026. Organized by the Global Research Foundation, USA, the accolade recognizes BSLA’s extraordinary contribution to fostering positive societal transformation.

“Receiving the National Prestige Award 2026 is a humbling validation of our team’s dedication,” Sengupta remarked. “This international and national recognition fuels our commitment. It inspires us to push boundaries and prove that the playing field can be a birthplace for hope, healing, and genuine societal change.”
