Kauvery Hospitals Launches Statewide Organ Donation Campaign for Organ Transplants

Kauvery Hospitals Crosses 760 Transplants, Prepares for Heart Surgeries, Launches Statewide Organ Donation Drive

Bengaluru, July 23, 2025 – In a major milestone for healthcare in South India, Kauvery Hospitals has announced the successful completion of over 760 organ transplants since 2024 across its network. With growing expertise in kidney, liver, heart, and lung transplants, the hospital has also launched a statewide organ donation awareness campaign ahead of World Organ Donation Day on August 13.

The Electronic City unit alone has contributed significantly to this feat, performing 64 transplants in under two years — including 52 kidneys, 11 livers, and 1 lung — highlighting the hospital’s rapid progress and clinical excellence.

Readying for Heart Transplants, Powered by Robotic Precision

The Kauvery Institute of Multi-Organ Transplant (KIMOT) is now preparing to begin heart transplant services, backed by advanced infrastructure and the globally aligned Total Robotic Transplant Program. This minimally invasive approach offers enhanced surgical precision and faster recovery.

With a clinical success rate of 93.79% and a mortality rate of just 3.4%, Kauvery’s transplant program is among the best in the region.

“Every transplant at Kauvery is a commitment to giving life where hope is fading. We’re proud to be part of a movement that not only saves lives but transforms them,”
Dr. S Vijayabaskaran, Executive Director – Bengaluru & Hosur

#HandOverHope Campaign Launched Across Karnataka

To boost public awareness, Kauvery Hospitals unveiled its new campaign, “#HandOverHope – Give with Grace. Live through Others.” The campaign’s visual — an open palm with five vital organs etched on each finger — emphasizes the message:
“You hold the power to save multiple lives with a single gesture of donation.”

The campaign will run statewide and culminate on World Organ Donation Day, focusing on bridging the gap between organ demand and donor availability.

Partnering with SOTTO Karnataka (formerly Jeevasarthakathe), Kauvery will conduct door-to-door donor registration drives, community outreach, and education programs, promoting ethical, timely transplants.

Over 5,000 Patients Waiting for Life-Saving Organs in Karnataka

Despite the hospital’s achievements, the reality on the ground remains sobering. According to SOTTO Karnataka data:

  • 4,500 people await kidneys

  • 500 each need hearts, lungs, and pancreases

Over 5,000 patients are registered and awaiting transplants, many in critical condition.

“Each number is a person waiting in uncertainty. They may not get a second chance unless more people come forward to pledge. We are bridging this gap through not just clinical advances, but through compassion and action,”
Dr. Rammohan Sripad Bhat, Director, Kauvery Institute of Nephrology
