World Bicycle Day Celebrated with Green Ride and Tree-Planting Initiative
Cycling for a Greener Future
In a spirited celebration of World Bicycle Day, enthusiasts pedaled through the town in a symbolic ride promoting eco-conscious living, followed by a tree-planting ceremony at the foothills of Maruti Betta near Shani Mahatma Temple. The event underscored the dual message of sustainable mobility and environmental stewardship, bringing together cyclists and nature lovers in a shared mission for a healthier planet.
A Champion Farmer Inspires Change
Adding significance to the occasion was Mr. Santosh, an acclaimed young farmer and award-winning agriculturist from Maradipura, Nagamangala Taluk, who graced the event as chief guest. His motivational words resonated with attendees, reinforcing the connection between cycling, environmental responsibility, and community action.
“This wasn’t just a ride—it was our small step toward a greener future and greater environmental awareness,” remarked one of the organizers, capturing the spirit of the initiative.
Grassroots Passion Drives Change
The event was spearheaded by a dedicated group of cyclists from a small village in Mandya district, whose passion for cycling and nature has fueled their commitment to organizing such initiatives.
“We are a group of passionate cyclists. Inspired by the growing movement, we formed our own team and have been organizing events with great enthusiasm,” shared Payel Sengupta, a key participant. “We ride with love and purpose, joining hands with others who share this vision.”
A Collective Step Forward
The evening’s activities—combining cycling and tree planting—highlighted the power of community-driven efforts in fostering sustainability. Participants left with a renewed sense of responsibility and camaraderie, proving that even small actions can contribute to a larger environmental impact.
As the sun set over Maruti Betta, the newly planted saplings stood as a testament to the group’s dedication—one pedal and one tree at a time.
