BENGALURU, April 25 — In a strong show of solidarity and condemnation, the Masjid-e-Taha Management Committee in Mattikere organized a symbolic protest outside the mosque premises against the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of over 20 innocent tourists, including Bharat Bhushan, a resident of Bengaluru.

The gathering was marked by emotional speeches, calls for justice, and demands for accountability from the government. Community leaders and concerned citizens joined together to denounce the “merciless and unpardonable” violence perpetrated by terrorists in the tourist hub of Kashmir.

‘Attack on Humanity, Not Just Security’

Veteran journalist Belaguru Samillah termed the incident “an injury to the heart of our country,” questioning the very morality of violence cloaked in the name of religion.

“It’s an attack on humanity,” Samillah said. “Is there any religion that permits killing innocents to protect itself? This ghastly act must be condemned by everyone, irrespective of their faith.”

“When we request permission for a peaceful protest or Eid prayer, the police run full background checks and procedures,” Khan remarked. “But where was that vigilance in Pahalgam? Thousands of tourists were there—how did such a lapse occur? Who is accountable for this gross negligence?”

Delegation Visits Grieving Family

Following the protest, a delegation led by Samiullah Khan and Syed Ashraf, former secretary to a former Prime Minister, visited the residence of Bharat Bhushan in Bengaluru. They met with his grieving mother and other family members to express solidarity and offer condolences.

“What happened to Bharat Bhushan is not just a tragedy; it’s a failure of the state’s duty to protect its citizens,” said Syed Ashraf. “The Union Home Minister must resign for this grave lapse, and the Karnataka government should extend a compensation of at least ₹25 lakhs to the families of the victims.”

Call for Strong Action and Justice

Former Karnataka Minister Roshan Baig also attended the protest and made a passionate appeal to both the community and the government.

“Islam does not preach extremism. Using the name of Islam to spill innocent blood is not only wrong, it’s shameful,” Baig said. “The culprits must be punished with the harshest penalties to set a precedent and deter future attacks.”

Community Calls for Healing, Not Hate

The protest ended with prayers for the deceased and a call to maintain unity in the face of divisive violence. The organizers reiterated that terrorism has no religion and that the entire country must come together to fight such threats with resolve and compassion.

“Our response should not be hate, but healing,” said Samiullah Khan. “Justice, accountability, and support for the victims’ families must be our immediate priorities.”

The community now awaits action from both state and central governments, as calls for answers and justice continue to grow louder.
