Nadaf Association Felicitates Meritorious Students, Highlights Education and Cyber Safety
The Karnataka Rajya Nadaf Pinjar Association organised an educational support and felicitation programme in Bengaluru to honour meritorious students from the community and guide them on higher education and career opportunities. Around 24 to 30 students from SSLC, second PUC, degree and professional courses received Pratibha Puraskara awards, including a BDS gold medallist and rank holder.
Beyond Engineering and Medicine
Community leader Inayatullah said the association conducts the annual felicitation programme to encourage students who secure distinction marks in the 10th and second PUC examinations, particularly those from economically disadvantaged families. Along with welfare assistance, students are offered career guidance and mentorship.
A booklet titled Beyond School was distributed to students and parents to help them understand educational and career options beyond the commonly chosen engineering and medical courses. The programme also enabled students to interact with IT professionals, mentors, job seekers and job providers and seek answers to their academic and career-related questions.
The association is also assisting students in obtaining Category 1 certificates to improve access to educational opportunities.
Focus on Rural and Educational Backwardness
State Vice President and KPCC leader Dr. Munaf said the Nadaf community is entirely Muslim and faces lower levels of education compared with the wider Muslim population. Many Nadaf families live in rural areas of North and Central Karnataka, including villages where few or no other Muslim families reside.
The association has therefore placed education and career awareness at the centre of its community welfare work, while continuing to support the wider Muslim community.
State Vice President G.D. Nadaf said the community has an estimated 20 to 25 million members in Karnataka who continue to face economic, social and educational challenges. He stressed the need for students to continue their education after SSLC and PUC and consider career options according to their qualifications and interests rather than limiting themselves to engineering or medicine.
Cybercrime Awareness for Students and Parents
District President Mubeena Begum said the Bengaluru programme was organised through the association’s women’s wing as part of its continuing educational and welfare initiatives, which have also included health camps and assistance during the pandemic.
DCP Khasim Sab, who attended as chief guest, conducted a session on cybercrime and digital safety. He cautioned students and parents about digital arrest scams, bank fraud, excessive mobile phone use and risks linked to making reels and sharing photographs online.
The event was attended by G.D. Nadaf, District President Inayathulla and Women’s District President Mubeena Begum. The association also plans to hold a state-level convention in Bellary on November 8.
