Prophet Muhammad’s Teachings on Justice Stressed at Bengaluru Symposium
Leaders at Bengaluru symposium call for interfaith understanding and coexistence
Bengaluru, September 13: A symposium on “Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) – The Messenger of Justice” organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka, at the Basava Samiti’s Anubhava Mantapa hall on Saturday, brought together eminent jurists, community leaders, and scholars who stressed the relevance of justice, equality, and coexistence in today’s society.
Delivering the keynote address, noted scholar Moodnakoodu Chinnaswamy emphasized that misconceptions about religion can only be dispelled through the sharing of true spiritual knowledge. “Only when communities understand the essence of different faiths can we build a society of coexistence. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) put into practice, 1,500 years ago, the values of equality and fraternity that Buddha and Basavanna also preached. No religion can sustain itself without inclusivity,” he cautioned.

Justice as the Foundation of Nation-Building
Introducing the theme, Janab Akbar Ali Udupi, State Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka, spoke about the Prophet’s vision of justice and the judicial system during his lifetime. Quoting from the Qur’an, he explained the principles of fairness embedded in Islamic teachings.
He added a strong message for the present times: “Those who divide a nation cannot be its protectors. True patriots are not the ones who hate other faiths, but those who connect hearts, spread love, and work for harmony among people.”
Call for Dispelling Misconceptions
Justice V. Gopala Gowda, retired judge of the Supreme Court of India, underscored the urgent need to present Prophet Muhammad’s life and Islam in their true light. “Much misinformation has been spread in society. In reality, the Prophet’s life and Islamic teachings reflect people-centric values and progressive ideas. By organizing such meaningful programs, we can dispel the mistrust sown by political forces,” he said, extending best wishes to Jamaat-e-Islami Hind for its initiative.

A Model of Justice and Equality
Speaking as a guest, Rizwan Arshad, MLA from Shivajinagar, highlighted the Prophet’s transformative leadership. “In the sixth century, during a time of ignorance and darkness in Arabia, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) championed the rights of women, slaves, and orphans. He built in Madinah an inclusive society that transcended religion and tribe. His model of governance and social justice makes him one of the greatest leaders in the socio-religious and political history of the world,” he said.

A Nationwide Campaign for Coexistence
In his presidential address, Dr. Mohammad Saad Belagami, State President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka, explained the organization’s commitment to spreading the Prophet’s universal message. “Through the annual ‘Seerat Campaign’ held across the state during Milad-un-Nabi, we strive to share the Prophet’s timeless teachings with the wider Indian community, particularly non-Muslims. Under the theme ‘Prophet Muhammad – The Messenger of Justice,’ we must come together with a spirit of brotherhood to build a society based on coexistence,” he urged.
