Chief Minister Siddaramaiah: “Prophet’s Teachings Show the Path of Peace and Justice”

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, addressing the congregation in traditional attire, spoke about the relevance of Prophet Muhammad’s teachings for humanity today.

“Prophet Muhammad brought revolutionary changes in human history. His teachings showed humanity the path of justice, equality, and religious harmony,” Siddaramaiah said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.

He further connected the Prophet’s teachings with Karnataka’s spiritual legacy. “The Sharana movement led by Basavanna also carried the same values—that all human beings are equal. Both traditions emphasise dignity, fraternity, and the oneness of humanity,” he said.

Calling the Prophet a “messenger of peace,” the Chief Minister urged society to embrace coexistence. “Prophets were ambassadors of peace. They taught that the entire human race must work for peace, mutual respect, and brotherhood,” he remarked.

Siddaramaiah stressed that these values are enshrined in the Indian Constitution. “The essence of our Constitution is fraternity and tolerance of all faiths. Let us make it our goal to practice and uphold the Constitution in our daily lives,” he said.

Concluding his address, he greeted the gathering with the words, “Jai Karnataka! Jai Hindu Muslim! Namaskaram to all of you.”

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar: “We Are All Equal Citizens”

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s speech focused on unity, equality, and the role of communities in building a harmonious India. He began by acknowledging the presence of religious leaders and dignitaries from across India and abroad, expressing gratitude for their contributions to the event.

“All individuals should be treated with equality. This reflects the message of Prophet Muhammad, whose birthday we are celebrating today,” he said.

The Deputy CM drew attention to India’s diversity and constitutional ideals. “Our national flag, which symbolises our Constitution, protects every citizen. Despite different religions, the core principles of truth, divinity, devotion, and loyalty remain the same,” he explained.

Quoting the Prophet’s teaching that “heaven lies at the feet of your mother,” Shivakumar highlighted the importance of parents and family values. He went on to say, “All religions share the same principle of not harming anyone and working for the welfare of humanity.”

Rejecting the idea of being labelled a minority, Shivakumar said, “Everyone born in this country is equal and capable. We must contribute equally to society.” He also praised the contributions of professionals within the Muslim community, including engineers, doctors, chartered accountants, teachers, and farmers.

Marking Teachers’ Day, which coincided with the event, Shivakumar identified teachers, labourers, soldiers, and farmers as the four pillars of society. “The government and the Congress party, which brought independence and gave us the Constitution, will always stand with the community for unity and progress,” he affirmed.
