Rural Urdu School in Karnataka’s Kerebilchi Tops District with 83% SSLC Results

Rural Urdu School in Karnataka Outshines Private Institutions with Stellar SSLC Results

83% pass rate, 9 students score above 600; student bags 4th rank in state with 622/625

Bengaluru: In a remarkable feat that has brought pride to the public education system, the Government Urdu High School in Kerebilchi village, Channagiri Taluk, Davangere district, has emerged as the top-performing government school in the district in this year’s SSLC (Class 10) results. With an impressive 83% pass rate, the school has not only outpaced other government institutions but has also rivaled private schools.

Aizah Fatima: The Rising Star

Leading the charge is Aizah Fatima, who secured 622 out of 625 marks, placing her 4th in the state. Her achievement was celebrated on campus with sweets and a special felicitation by teachers and the headmaster. “I had set a goal to score above 600 and become a state topper. I studied from 8 AM to 8 PM using our study room and weekly tests. I want to become a doctor,” Aizah told this reporter.

She is among 9 students from the school who scored above 600 marks. Others include Aina Sheikh (611), Umme Aiman (612), and Zuha Khanam (613), each achieving over 97% and bringing honor to their families and community.

Dedicated Teachers, Extraordinary Effort

The school’s success is rooted in its committed teaching staff and innovative academic practices. “We conducted special classes early morning, late evening, even on Sundays. We set up study rooms, group study sessions, and daily tests,” said Maheshwarappa S. Odeyar, the school’s headmaster. “Out of 100 students, 83 passed. We had 26 distinctions and 43 first classes. This is the highest among all government schools in the district.”

Teachers like Shoaib (Mathematics), guest faculty Najeeb, and the SDMC leadership played critical roles in guiding students toward excellence. “Without their tireless work, this outcome would have been a dream,” Odeyar added.

Aspirations Beyond the Village

Many students from this modest rural background have set their sights high. “I want to join IIT,” said Sara Saleem Beg, a student. Others aim for careers in civil services or medicine. The students are not only excelling academically but are also confident English speakers—a rare feat in rural government schools.

Science, Innovation, and Parental Support

Despite limited infrastructure, the school boasts a dedicated science lab, conducts exhibitions, and has earned awards for innovation. Strong parental involvement has also been pivotal. “Our parents work hard and encourage us to study. We want to give back to them,” said Aina Sheikh.

This success story stands as a testament to what public schools can achieve when educators, students, and communities work together with purpose and passion.
