GIO Launches Nationwide ‘Embracing Femininity’ Campaign to Promote Dignity, Identity and Holistic Well-being

Month-Long Initiative Seeks to Help Young Women Rediscover Their Innate Strength While Challenging Social Extremes

Bengaluru, 1 Aug. 2026: The National Federation of Girls Islamic Organisation (NFGIO) has launched a month-long nationwide campaign titled “Embracing Femininity”, aimed at encouraging young women to rediscover their innate identity, emotional well-being and social contribution while navigating the challenges of the modern world. The campaign will be observed across the country from August 1 to 31, 2026.

The campaign was unveiled during a press conference held at the Bangalore Islamic Foundation Trust (BIFT) in Bengaluru. It was addressed by Adv. Sumaiya Roshan, National President of NFGIO; Afeefa Tahniyath, Vice President; Ar. Sameen Momin, National Campaign Convener; and Basira, Zonal Advisory Council Member of GIO Karnataka.

Promoting a Balanced Vision of Womanhood

The campaign is rooted in the Islamic concept of fitrah, or the innate nature of human beings. According to NFGIO, the initiative seeks to create a “third space” that moves beyond the twin challenges of restrictive cultural norms and relentless productivity-driven lifestyles.

“Many young women today are visible in every sphere of life, yet silently exhausted, carrying the burden of constant performance. Embracing Femininity is our invitation to step beyond both extremes and return to wholeness,” said Adv. Sumaiya Roshan.

The organisation emphasised that femininity should not be viewed as a weakness or limitation, but as a valuable and essential dimension of human life that enriches both individuals and society. It also underscored that women’s participation in every sphere should be achieved without suppressing their unique identity and natural strengths.

Nationwide Activities Throughout August

As part of the campaign, GIO units across India will organise conferences, campus interactions, seminars, panel discussions, art exhibitions, poetry and creative competitions, counselling initiatives, women’s support circles and the felicitation of unsung women in local communities. A social media campaign under the hashtags #EmbracingFemininity and #ThatIsMyFemininity, along with a seven-day Femininity Journal, online video series and an international online conference on August 16, will also form part of the initiative.

NFGIO said the campaign aims to help young women reconnect with their innate nature, affirm their strengths, critically engage with both patriarchal structures and contemporary liberal narratives, and build supportive networks that promote emotional resilience, healing and collective growth.

The Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO) described itself as one of India’s leading women’s organisations, committed to the holistic development and empowerment of young women, particularly Muslim women, enabling them to become confident, responsible and meaningful contributors to society.
