“Leadership Must Translate Into Service”: Milli Council Karnataka Elects New Team, Sets Agenda for Education, Economic Empowerment and Grassroots Outreach

Bengaluru, 26 Sept. 2026: The All India Milli Council (AIMC) Karnataka elected a new leadership and resolved to strengthen its statewide network, expand humanitarian initiatives and work for the educational, economic and social advancement of disadvantaged communities at its General Body and Electoral Meeting held at Emerald Sufah, Bengaluru, on Saturday.

The meeting, attended by representatives from almost all districts, reviewed the organisation’s role amid concerns over the country’s social and institutional challenges. Members stressed the need for a stable, active and grassroots-oriented Milli Council capable of addressing public issues through constitutional and democratic means.
Mufti Ahmed Simal Rashadi Elected President
In accordance with AIMC’s constitution, under which organisational elections are held every three years at the state and national levels, Mufti Ahmed Simal Rashadi, Mohtamim and Shaykh al-Hadith of Darul Uloom Sabeel Rashad, was unanimously elected Karnataka president. A 21-member executive committee was also elected unanimously.

Mohammed Fiaz Sharief was chosen General Secretary. Syed Ashraf, Maulana Naushad Alam Qasmi and Maulana Qazi Ghulam Ghouse Siddiqui of Ballari were named patrons.
The vice presidents are Obaidullah Sharief, Shaikh Habeeb ur Rahman Salafi, Maulana Farooq Azam Habban Raheemi and Dr. Roshan Abbas. Syed Mazhar Khadri and Mohammed Farooq were appointed Assistant General Secretaries, Ibrahim Khan Tanveer as Treasurer and Nasrullah Sharief Aftab as Assistant Treasurer.
The election was supervised by central observers Shaikh Nizamuddin, Mufti Umar Abideen and Mohammed Alam.
“Organisation Must Translate Concern Into Service”
AIMC National Assistant General Secretary Sulaiman Khan said the Council’s relevance depended on its ability to convert concern into constructive action.
“The challenges before the country demand commitment, sacrifice and organised service. Milli Council must strengthen its district units, stand with the poor and marginalised, promote education and economic empowerment, and collaborate with like-minded organisations. Our responsibility cannot be confined to Muslims. We must stand with every deprived citizen and work for justice, dignity and constitutional values.”
Shaikh Nizamuddin said, “Leadership is a responsibility, not a position. Our bylaws and objectives must be reflected in service, sacrifice and sustained grassroots work.”
Mohammed Alam called for “collective action that strengthens education, livelihoods and democratic participation,” while Mufti Umar Abideen urged members to combine “commitment to principles with compassionate service to society.” Central Council Member Aga Sultan said cooperation with like-minded organisations could widen the Council’s reach among disadvantaged communities.
District Units to Be Revitalised
General Secretary Mohammed Fiaz Sharief said the new committee would prioritise organisational revival across Karnataka.
“Our immediate task is to reorganise district units and build an active network that responds to educational, economic, social and humanitarian needs. We want the Milli Council to be accessible to people on the ground. Collaboration, youth participation and service to the poor, irrespective of community, will remain central to our programme.”
The meeting concluded with a felicitation of Khidmat Boys, AIMC’s frontline service wing, for assisting needy students with fees, supporting patients requiring healthcare, distributing monthly ration kits and organising SIR camps to help citizens with electoral-roll enrolment.
