Bengaluru, August 5, 2025: Samsung’s latest range of foldable smartphones has struck a chord with Indian consumers, with pre-orders crossing 2.1 lakh units in just the first 48 hours after launch. The unprecedented demand has led to stockouts in select markets, underscoring India’s growing appetite for premium, cutting-edge technology.

The new lineup – Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and the more affordable Z Flip7 FE – was unveiled globally on July 9, 2025, and is being manufactured at Samsung’s Noida plant. Indian engineers at the company’s R&D hub in Bengaluru played a crucial role in developing these seventh-generation foldables.

India: The Growth Engine for Samsung

In light of the strong consumer response, JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, called India a ā€œstrategic market with immense potentialā€ and a critical part of the company’s global roadmap.

ā€œIndia is a key pillar in Samsung’s future. The growth we’re seeing here is aligned with transformative national programs like Make in India and Digital India,ā€ Park said.
ā€œSamsung continues to invest heavily in innovation, manufacturing, and local value addition, supporting India’s journey toward self-reliance.ā€

Samsung currently operates two manufacturing plants, three R&D centers, and one design center in India, a testament to its long-standing commitment to the region.

Innovation Built by Indians, for the World

The company highlighted that the new foldables were built with significant contributions from Indian talent, particularly engineers based in Bengaluru. The devices are optimized not just for form factor, but also to harness the power of artificial intelligence in mobile usage.

ā€œThe Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 offer expansive displays that make them ideal platforms for AI-powered productivity and entertainment. These are the best mobile devices for AI experiences, designed for the future,ā€ Park noted.

Shrinking the Smartphone, Expanding Possibilities

Park also shed light on Samsung’s philosophy behind foldable innovation – making large screens more portable.

ā€œWhen smartphones first hit 5 inches, we thought that was big. Now displays are 6.9 inches or more – great for media, but hard to carry and handle. So, we flipped and folded them. It’s a trend we pioneered, and one the rest of the industry is now following,ā€ he said.

As the market matures, Park believes foldables will redefine how people experience mobile technology.
