Nominated for the Abhaya Dasabhuja Award 2026<\/strong>, Bindu Madhavi Kandula represents the spirit of a woman who has continually balanced professional responsibilities, family life, education, culture and service to society. With more than 15 years of corporate experience, a teaching career and wide-ranging community involvement, her journey reflects perseverance, compassion and a deep commitment to meaningful contribution.<\/p>\n

Born and brought up in Bellary, Bindu completed her schooling at St. Philomena\u2019s High School and Good Shepherd Convent before pursuing her higher education in Bengaluru. She holds a B.Com degree with Finance specialisation from Seshadripuram College and a B.Ed from Anupama College. She is currently pursuing her M.Ed while working as a part-time teacher.<\/p>\n

From Corporate Professional to Dedicated Educator<\/h3>\n

Bindu began her professional career at Integrated Enterprises, Malleswaram, and subsequently worked with organisations including Tata AIG, Cholamandalam, IL&FS, ODC, Val-Ed Initiatives and Oracle Education. Alongside her corporate career, she discovered a strong calling for education.<\/p>\n

She has worked as a value-education educator, teaching value-based stories to schoolchildren, and has taught Music, Computers, Social Studies and English in CBSE and ICSE schools. She also provides home tuition in English and Kannada and conducts online classes in Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu Sahasranama, slokas and Dasara Pada for children.<\/p>\n

A Lifelong Bond with Music and Indian Culture<\/h3>\n

Music has been an integral part of Bindu\u2019s life since childhood. She began learning classical music at the age of five and gave her first stage performance at Raghava Kala Mandir in Bellary. She trained under Guru Smt. Sundaramma and Radhakrishna for 13 years and continues to learn Bhavageethe and light music in Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

She also learnt Kuchipudi under Guru Jilani Bhasha. Her performances have taken her to venues and cultural platforms including Vasavi temples, Kukke Subramanya, the Golden Temple in Vellore, Thiruvaiyaru Thyagaraja Aradhana, Hampi Utsav and numerous official, devotional and cultural programmes. She has sung invocation songs at more than 100 programmes and remains actively associated with music and cultural groups.<\/p>\n

Healthy Living, Community Service and Compassion<\/h3>\n

A passionate advocate of healthy living, Bindu promotes nutritious cooking and encourages people in her circle to adopt healthier food choices, including cold-pressed oils, millets and Maida-free and palm-oil-free food. Her love for traditional South Indian cuisine, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra delicacies, complements her commitment to healthy cooking.<\/p>\n

Her social engagement extends across several community initiatives. She is associated with Vasavi Mahila Mandali, Malleswaram Association, MSIF, Swaramele, Vasavi Gana Manjari and other cultural and service teams. She volunteers for Malleswaram Elders Meet, plastic-free initiatives, Cycle Day, Hasiru Sant, Raste Habba, Bombe Habba and national festivals.<\/p>\n

Service Rooted in Compassion and Inclusion<\/h3>\n

Bindu has served as a cultural programme coordinator and volunteer in schools and participates in ISKCON Fest activities as a judge for music, dance, Krishna costume, cooking, Bhagavad Gita and sloka competitions. She also volunteers as a scribe for blind students and contributes to initiatives such as Kadumalleshwara\u2019s efforts to promote a cleaner and greener Malleswaram.<\/p>\n

For Bindu, social service is not merely an activity but a source of deep fulfilment. Her aspirations include teaching underprivileged children, planting trees and feeding the hungry. Her journey demonstrates that meaningful social change can emerge from consistent acts of kindness, knowledge-sharing and community participation.<\/p>\n
