Youth Congress Marks 66th Foundation Day; Leaders Call on Young People to Stand Against Injustice<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bengaluru, 9 August 2026:<\/strong> Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president B.K. Hariprasad on Sunday called upon the youth to safeguard the Constitution, democracy and secular values to ensure a bright and inclusive future for the country. He was speaking at the 66th Foundation Day celebrations of the Indian Youth Congress organised by the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee at the KPCC office premises in Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

Hariprasad formally inaugurated the programme by hoisting the national flag. Hundreds of young people and students, dressed in white, participated in the event. Youth Congress office-bearers also took a pledge to work for the welfare of the country and contribute towards building a stronger future for students and young people.<\/p>\n

Remembering the Freedom Struggle<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Addressing the gathering, Hariprasad said the Youth Congress was established to inspire young people with the ideals of patriotism, national service and commitment to the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cEighty-four years have passed since Mahatma Gandhi gave the call of \u2018Quit India\u2019. Leaders including Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel fought against slavery, exploitation, fear and poverty and secured freedom for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the responsibilities of the freedom struggle must now be carried forward by protecting the institutions and values that sustain the Republic.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see a bright future for the country, we must protect our independence, Constitution and democratic system. We must also uphold secularism and strengthen the belief that everyone, without hatred or discrimination, is an Indian,\u201d Hariprasad said.<\/p>\n

Youth Must Become the Voice of the Voiceless<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress president H.S. Manjunath said young people had historically played a decisive role in the country\u2019s freedom struggle and nation-building.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the country faced the choice between slavery and freedom, it was the youth who stood up and demanded freedom. Indira Gandhi built the Youth Congress with the vision of channelising the strength of young people towards nation-building,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the Youth Congress would continue to stand with the poor, oppressed, marginalised and those facing injustice.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s youth must not limit themselves to one-day protests. They must become the voice of the voiceless every day, stand with the oppressed and remain at the forefront of nation-building. Whenever the country or the State faces a crisis, we must be among the first to respond,\u201d Manjunath said.<\/p>\n

KPCC working president and MLC Manjunath Bhandari, Indian Youth Congress national secretary Tariq Bhagawan and several other leaders were present.<\/p>\n
