Bengaluru, July 30:<\/strong> Upholding the spirit of democracy and nurturing future leaders, Abbas Khan Degree College for Women successfully conducted its Student Council Election for the academic year 2026\u201327<\/strong> on July 26. The election witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to cultivating responsible leadership, democratic values and active civic engagement.<\/p>\n

Affiliated with Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University<\/strong>, the college transformed the election into a meaningful learning experience, allowing students to understand the significance of voting, representation and collective decision-making within an academic environment.<\/p>\n

Following the democratic process, Ms. Bibi Umme Kulsum<\/strong> was elected President, Ms. Bibi Shama<\/strong> as Vice President, Ms. Umme Kulsum A<\/strong> as Secretary, Ms. Taskeen Begum<\/strong> as Treasurer, Ms. Umme Hani<\/strong> as Sports Captain, Ms. Shahreen Fathima<\/strong> as Sports Vice-Captain, Ms. Noor Sabha<\/strong> as Cultural Secretary and Ms. Arfa Anjum<\/strong> as NSS Leader.<\/p>\n

The college administration described the election as more than a routine campus activity, emphasising that democratic participation helps students develop leadership, accountability, integrity and teamwork. In a nation like India, the world’s largest democracy, such initiatives provide young citizens with valuable practical exposure to democratic institutions and responsible governance.<\/p>\n

Dr. M.S. Vidya,<\/span> Principal of Abbas Khan Degree College for Women<\/strong>, said, “Democracy flourishes when young minds learn to lead with integrity, responsibility and compassion. Student elections provide an excellent platform to nurture confident leaders who can contribute positively to society while respecting the values of equality, participation and accountability.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Echoing similar views, Dr. Tabassum S.G., Vice Principal<\/strong>,<\/span> said, “Leadership is not merely about holding office; it is about serving others with commitment, discipline and empathy. Congratulating the newly elected office-bearers, Dr. Attar Syed Murtaza Hussain,<\/span> General Secretary, CMA of Karnataka<\/strong>, urged the student leaders to become role models both inside and outside the campus.<\/p>\n
