Veterans Football Tournament Raises Funds for HIV-Affected Children in Bengaluru<\/h1>\n

Sixteen teams unite for a cause as sport and compassion take centre stage<\/h2>\n

BENGALURU: Football became a powerful force for social good as the Bengaluru Sports Lovers Association (BSLA) successfully organised the “Old Is Gold Veterans Fundraising Football Tournament”<\/strong> for players aged above 40 at the VeloCT<\/strong> Ground<\/strong> in Halanayakanahalli on July 5. The tournament brought together veteran footballers from across Karnataka to raise funds for the medical treatment and care of HIV-affected children supported by Desire Society.<\/p>\n

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 16 veteran football teams representing different parts of the state, highlighting how sport can inspire compassion, unity and meaningful social action beyond the playing field.<\/p>\n

Felicita FC emerged as the tournament champions, while XVFC finished as runners-up after an impressive campaign.<\/p>\n

Gesture of generosity steals the spotlight<\/h2>\n

One of the most memorable moments of the tournament came during the prize distribution ceremony. After accepting the runners-up prize money, XVFC<\/strong> captain Mrinmay returned the entire amount to the organisers as a donation for the welfare of HIV-affected children.<\/p>\n

His heartfelt gesture drew appreciation from players, organisers and spectators alike, reinforcing the tournament’s core message that sports can serve as a meaningful platform for community service and social responsibility.<\/p>\n

More than a football tournament<\/h2>\n

Organised by BSLA, the event demonstrated that football is not merely a competitive sport but also an effective medium to promote humanity, solidarity and the spirit of giving. Participants and supporters came together with a shared purpose of making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children.<\/p>\n

The tournament featured 16 veteran teams: Let’s Football Club, Mercurial, Un-Athletico Madrid, XVFC, Konar FC, LB Brothers, RJFC, Brotherhood FC, Java City FC, Idukki Gold FC, Vintage FC, Falcons FC, Felicita Strikers, VKFC, Old Monks FC and Bangalore Lions FC.<\/p>\n

Corporate support strengthens fundraising initiative<\/h2>\n

The fundraising initiative received generous support from several corporate organisations and institutions, including Apollo Cradle, DESIGN, Himalayan Natives, Rawli Associates, R.R. Nayak Trust and Spandana Hospital Group. Their contributions played a vital role in the success of the event and reflected a shared commitment towards supporting meaningful social causes.<\/p>\n

Organisers pledge to continue the mission<\/h2>\n

Expressing gratitude after the event, Payel Sengupta, Founder and CEO of BSLA<\/strong>, thanked the sponsors, participating teams, volunteers and supporters for making the tournament a success.<\/p>\n

“This tournament has shown that football has the power to unite people not only in competition but also in compassion. Every team that participated became a partner in bringing hope to children who need our support.
