RGUHS 28th Convocation: Over 72,000 Degrees and 115 Gold Medals to Be Awarded on June 16<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Bengaluru, June 12, 2026<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Karnataka is set to host its 28th annual convocation ceremony on June 16. The event will take place at the Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad International Convention Centre, located within the GKVK Campus on Ballari Road, starting at 10:00 AM.<\/span><\/p>\n

Karnataka\u2019s Governor and RGUHS Chancellor, Thaawarchand Gehlot, will lead the proceedings by presenting degrees to successful graduates. The event\u2019s chief guest will be Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who will also deliver the convocation address. Other dignitaries in attendance include Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil (Pro-Chancellor) and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bhagavan B.C.<\/span><\/p>\n

Degree Distribution and Honorary Awards<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A total of 72,741 candidates are scheduled to receive various qualifications. The breakdown includes 71 Ph.D. scholars, 211 super-speciality degree holders, 9,761 postgraduates, 8 postgraduate diploma recipients, 256 fellowship graduates, 15 certificate course completers, and 62,419 undergraduates.<\/span><\/p>\n

In recognition of their outstanding contributions to their respective fields, three distinguished individuals will receive honorary Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) degrees: Prof. (Dr.) Nailady Sridhar Shetty, Dr. Harshangi Veerbhadrappa, and Dr. A.C. Shanmugam.<\/span><\/p>\n

Academic Performance and Medal Winners<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The university reported an overall pass rate of 89.22% across all faculties. Commenting on the results, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bhagavan B.C. stated that the students\u2019 accomplishments highlight the dedication of institutions, educators, and learners in advancing quality health sciences education.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, 103 students will collectively receive 115 gold medals. Each medal is a 22-carat gold coin weighing five grams, funded by both the university and donor contributions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The top performer is Spandhana I, a Bachelor of Physiotherapy student from Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy in Bengaluru, who secured three gold medals. Additionally, ten students have each earned two gold medals. They are:<\/span><\/p>\n
