RGUHS Cracks Down on Excess Fees, Warns Affiliated Colleges of Strict Action
Nursing, Allied Health Sciences and Physiotherapy institutions told to follow government fee structure and maintain transparency in admissions
Bengaluru, August 30, 2026: The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has issued a stern warning to all affiliated Nursing, Allied Health Sciences (AHS) and Physiotherapy colleges against collecting fees beyond the amount prescribed by the Karnataka Government during admissions.
The University directed colleges to conduct admissions strictly through AIIMS counselling and collect only the prescribed fees payable to the government and RGUHS. It reiterated that no unauthorised, additional or hidden charges may be imposed on students under any pretext.
Fee structure must remain uniform
RGUHS said the approved fee structure must be followed uniformly throughout the entire course duration. Colleges cannot charge a higher amount in the first year and subsequently reduce or adjust it in later years.
Institutions have also been prohibited from making hostel accommodation compulsory as a condition for admission.
The University said the prescribed Nursing fee structure has already been communicated to affiliated institutions in accordance with the Karnataka Medical Education Department order dated August 8, 2026 (Order No. HFW 320 MHS 2026).
Accountability for records and institutional details
RGUHS has simultaneously tightened requirements concerning admission-related records. Colleges must ensure that all information and documents submitted to the University or other competent authorities are accurate, complete and officially verifiable.
“The colleges themselves shall be responsible for the accuracy and accountability of all information, communication and documentation relating to admissions,” the University stated.
It warned that strict action would follow if any document or information is found to be false during verification.
Colleges must also ensure that their addresses, contact details, course information, fee particulars and other institutional data remain accurate. Any changes must be promptly updated under the prescribed guidelines and communicated in writing to RGUHS and the concerned authorities.
Student welfare a priority
RGUHS stressed that student interests, transparency and accountability are central to its admission-related measures. It said students must receive clear, accurate and reliable information about institutions, courses and fees and assured continued coordination with affiliated colleges and authorities to ensure compliance.
The University made it unequivocal that violations of the directions would invite strict action under applicable rules and laws, signalling a firm stand against practices that could financially burden or mislead students and their families.
